April Grigsby, DSW, LCSW, is a doctoral-level licensed clinical social worker based in New York City with the team at Healthy Minds NYC, located in Midtown East, Manhattan. For more than fifteen years she has worked with a clientele as diverse as New York City itself. She’s known for a rare pairing: the honesty to tell you the truth and the warmth that makes it safe to hear. April works especially well with high-achieving women navigating anxiety, life transitions, and the question of who they are beneath everything they’ve accomplished. She also helps clients with depression and identity, and works with couples on the patterns that keep them stuck.
TRAINED TO TURN INSIGHT INTO ACTION
April earned her doctorate in clinical social work (DSW) from NYU, her master’s from the School of Social Work at Columbia University, and her undergraduate degree from Yale. She was trained in privileged, Ivy League settings and chose to serve people across the full spectrum of New York life — a path that made her fluent in moving between worlds, which is often exactly what her clients are doing. She draws on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), tailoring each to the person in front of her rather than forcing a method onto a life.
WHAT IT’S LIKE WORKING WITH APRIL
April believes one size never fits all. Some clients come ready to build concrete, doable plans; others simply need a safe place to be heard. She honors both as real work. April meets you in the reality of your context, holding hard truth and deep compassion at the same time, so you leave not as a more polished version of who you’re supposed to be, but more like yourself.
