ABOUT DR. DOKUN

Lanre Dokun, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist in New York City at Healthy Minds NYC located in Midtown East, Manhattan. Dr. Dokun founded Healthy Minds NYC in 2017 with the aim of providing high quality, effective mental health care for working professionals. As a highly driven and academically accomplished individual with an Ivy league education, he understands the pressures and demands of elite corporate and academic environments. Dr. Dokun seeks to help motivated and successful clients realize whole life success and a balanced quality of life. 

  • Dr. Dokun is personable but direct, working with clients to set and meet concrete goals. This means aiding clients in navigating psychiatric disorders such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and more. Dr. Dokun also helps clients navigate career goals, interpersonal relationships/conflicts, and establish long-term financial stability.

    Dr. Dokun is an Ivy League-educated physician who received his bachelor's degree from Brown University (with a double concentration in Philosophy and Psychology) and his medical degree from The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is an accomplished clinician, teacher, and humanitarian.

    During his time at The Mount Sinai Hospital, he was chosen as Teacher of the Year due to his efforts in educating medical students and residents. He helped establish and manage a free mental health clinic in East Harlem and was chosen by the American Psychiatric Association as a SAMHSA Minority Fellow. He contributed to The Mount Sinai Experts Guide in Psychiatry with a chapter focusing on racial and ethnic differences in response to psychoactive medications.

    Dr. Dokun has supervised medical students in the care of psychiatric patients as well as provided academic and career counseling for aspiring physicians. He has also worked as a consultant to the Ministry of Health of Belize and supervised Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners in medication management as well as provided training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.

    Prior to working at The Mount Sinai Hospital, he taught a course at the University of Pennsylvania’s Social Learning Disorders Program, researched the connections between HIV and psychiatric illness, and led a group therapy treatment to help young adults on the autism spectrum have more meaningful personal relationships.
